Hide 'Set Program Access and Defaults' in Add/Remove Programs

If you not want to show Set Program Access and Defaults option then set from this tweak from Add/Remove Programs.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000
This restriction is used to hide the option "Set Program Access and Defaults" in the Add or Remove Programs page. This feature enables the users to configure the default applications used on the PC.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If any of the subkeys “\CurrentVersion\Policies\Uninstall\” is not present, create it as explained below. Create a REG_DWORD value name "NoChooseProgramsPage" (if this value doesn't exist). Right Click on the Option “NoChooseProgramsPage”, and from the drop down menu, select Modify. Enter the value "1" to enable the setting.

Close the registry.

Restart the system.

Hide Set Program Access and Defaults.reg

The ".reg" file can hide "Set Program Access and Defaults".

Show Set Program Access and Defaults (default).reg

The ".reg" file can show "Set Program Access and Defaults".

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

The "Set Program Access and Defaults" option is not visible after the changes have been made in the registry.

The "Set Permission Access and Defaults" option is visible.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\] key, right-click and click on "New > Key" to create a new key with the name "Uninstall".

Third, right-click on the blank area in the right pane and click on "New > DWORD Value" to create a new DWORD value with the name "NoChooseProgramsPage".

Fourth, right-click on the 'NoChooseProgramsPage' DWORD value and click on "Modify".

Finally, enter the value "1" in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Disable access to the “Users” system icon (For Current User in Win 98/Me).

Disable access to the “Users” system icon (For All Users in Win 98/Me).

Disable the ability to change password (For Current User).

You can customize the display of the Control Panel applets. With this setting you can disable the ability to change password using “Passwords” system icon in the current applets group.

Disable the ability to change password (For All Users).

You can customize the display of the Control Panel applets. With this setting you can disable the ability to change password using “Passwords” system icon in the current applets group.

Prevent changes to virtual memory settings (For Current User).

With this setting you can prevent changes to the default virtual memory settings using the “Display” system icon in Control Panel.
