Clear the search arguments from Find dialog box.

This setting allows you to clear the drop-down list created while trying to find a file or all files of a format.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me
Windows keeps record of whatever you do on the system like the files you looked for on your computer. The Find dialog box shows a list, as drop-down, of all the items searched in your computer.

It notes down the search argument name in most recently used list, which could be the name of a specific file, file names beginning with known characters, or even all the available files of a particular format. This setting allows you to clear the given list.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. When in “Doc Find Spec MRU” folder, select all the values in the right-pane and press delete. It will delete the list of all searches conducted from Find dialog box.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

Criteria of previous search list is deleted.

Criteria on which previous searches were made is visible. It may be on file name, file format etc.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Next, go to the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Doc Find Spec MRU\] key, select the values "a, b, c to MRUList", right-click and click on "Delete".

Hide the shortcut mark from an Internet shortcut (.URL) file.

This setting enables you to show the “.SHB” files extension. If you have a file for example “Work”, you can show the extension that it looks like “Work.shb”.
