Show special folder 1 in “My Computer”.

Your “My Computer” folder displays all the drives configured on your system, including removable drives. This tweak is useful when you regularly access a folder and want to avoid subsequent clicks to access the folder. The new view can easily show your own special folder in the “My Computer” and let you access it at a single click.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista
Your “My Computer” folder displays all the drives configured on your system, including removable drives. This tweak is useful when you regularly access a folder and want to avoid subsequent clicks to access the folder. The new view can easily show your own special folder in the “My Computer” and let you access it at a single click.

For this do the following:

1)Create a key '{55028DEA-EA62-4c5f-A1F3-9D123DFAEDA1}' in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\"

2)Create a key '{55028DEA-EA62-4c5f-A1F3-9D123DFAEDA1}' in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\"

2.1)Update the data value of 'Default' with the folder name that you want to display.


2.2)Create a string value name 'InfoTip' and set the value you want to show as going with the mouse of the entry.


3) Create a key “DefaultIcon” in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{55028DEA-EA62-4c5f-A1F3-9D123DFAEDA1}]

3.1) Update the data value of 'Default' with “shell32.dll,4”.

4) Create a key “InProcServer32” in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{55028DEA-EA62-4c5f-A1F3-9D123DFAEDA1}]

4.1) Update the data value of “Default” with 'SHDocVw.dll'.

4.2) Create a string 'ThreadingModel' and set the value with 'Apartment'.

5) Create a key “Instance” in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{55028DEA-EA62-4c5f-A1F3-9D123DFAEDA1}]

5.1) Update the data value of “Default” with blank.

5.2) Create a string “CLSID” and set the value with '{0AfACED1-E828-11D1-9187-B532F1E9575D}'.

5.3) Create a key “InitPropertyBag” in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{55028DEA-EA62-4c5f-A1F3-9D123DFAEDA1}\Instance]

5.3.1) Update the data value of “Default” with blank.

5.3.2) Create a DWORD “Attributes” and set the value with '15 (In Hexadecimal Base)'.

5.3.3) Create an String Value “Target” and set the value with the path of the special folder.

6) Create a key 'ShellFolder' under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{55028DEA-EA62-4c5f-A1F3-9D123DFAEDA1}].

6.1) Update the data value of “Default” with blank.

6.2) Create a DWORD "Attributes" and set the value with 'f8000110 (In Hexadecimal Base)

6.3) Create a string “WantsFORPARSING” and leave it blank.

After refreshing your system you can see the effects on your My Computer.

Add Special Folder.reg

The '.reg' file will add a special folder in Explorer when you will click on My Computer.

Delete Special Folder.reg

The '.reg' file will delete the created special folder from Explorer when you will click on My Computer.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

'My Computer' special folder is created.

No special folder for ‘My Computer’ is visible by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\] key and create a new key with the name "{55028DEA-EA62-4c5f-A1F3-9D123DFAEDA1}" under "NameSpace".

It will look as shown

Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\] key and create a new key with the name "{55028DEA-EA62-4c5f-A1F3-9D123DFAEDA1}" under "CLSID".

Next, right-click on "(Default)" and click on 'Modify'.

Enter a user defined folder name, like 'Working' in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Now, right-click in the open area to create a String Value with the name "InfoTip" in "{55028DEA-EA62-4c5f-A1F3-9D123DFAEDA1}" key.

Next, right-click on "InfoTip" and click on 'Modify'.

Enter the value "User Defined Tool Tip" Like 'Systweak Inc' in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Go to[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{55028DEA-EA62-4c5f-A1F3-9D123DFAEDA1}\], key and create a new key with the name "DefaultIcon" under "{55028DEA-EA62-4c5f-A1F3-9D123DFAEDA1}".

Next, right-click on "(Default)" and click on 'Modify'.

Enter the value "shell32.dll,4" without quotation in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{55028DEA-EA62-4c5f-A1F3-9D123DFAEDA1}\], key and create a new key with the name "InProcServer32" under "{55028DEA-EA62-4c5f-A1F3-9D123DFAEDA1}".

Next, right-click on "(Default)" and click on 'Modify'.

Enter the value "SHDocVw.dll" without quotation in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Now, right-click in the open area to create a String Value with the name "ThreadingModel" in "InProcServer32" key.

Next, right-click on "ThreadingModel" and click on 'Modify'.

enter the value "Apartment" without quotation in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{55028DEA-EA62-4c5f-A1F3-9D123DFAEDA1}\], key and create a new key with the name "Instance" under "{55028DEA-EA62-4c5f-A1F3-9D123DFAEDA1}".

Next, right-click on "(Default)" and click on 'Modify'.

Leave Blank of the text box and click on 'OK'.

Now, right-click in the open area to create a String Value with the name "CLSID" in "Instance" key.

Next, right-click on "CLSID" and click on 'Modify'.

Enter the value "{0AfACED1-E828-11D1-9187-B532F1E9575D}" without quotation in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{55028DEA-EA62-4c5f-A1F3-9D123DFAEDA1}\Instance\], key and create a new key with the name "InitPropertyBag" under "Instance".

Next, right-click on "(Default)" and click on 'Modify'.

Leave Blank of the text box and click on 'OK'.

Now, right-click in the open area to create a DWORD Value with the name "Attributes" in "InitPropertyBag" key.

Next, right-click on "Attributes" and click on 'Modify'.

Enter the value "15" without quotation in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Now, right-click in the open area to create a String Value with the name "Target" in "InitPropertyBag" key.

Next, right-click on "Target" and click on 'Modify'.

Enter the value "Path of the User Defined Folde" without quotation in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{55028DEA-EA62-4c5f-A1F3-9D123DFAEDA1}\], key and create a new key with the name "ShellFolder" under "{55028DEA-EA62-4c5f-A1F3-9D123DFAEDA1}".

Next, right-click on "(Default)" and click on 'Modify'.

Leave Blank of the text box and click on 'OK'.

Now, right-click in the open area to create a DWORD Value with the name "Attributes" in "ShellFolder" key.

Next, right-click on "Attributes" and click on 'Modify'.

Enter the value "f8000110" (Base Hexadecimal) without quotation in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Now, right-click in the open area to create a String Value with the name "WantsFORPARSING" in "ShellFolder" key.

Next, right-click on "WantsFORPARSING" and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, Leave Blank of the text box and click on 'OK'. Once you are done. Exit from registry. After a restart or logoff, the changes take effect.

Clear the search arguments from Find dialog box.

Change the description of “.EXE” files in Windows Explorer.

This tweak is used to change the description of “.EXE” files in Windows Explorer when you click on the Details in View menu.

Hide “Shortcut to” prefix to any new shortcut you create.

This setting will hide shortcut to prefix for any new shortcut, you create.

Show the extension for the Shortcut into a Document (.SHB) files.

Category : Display > Files & Folders

This setting enables you to show the “.SHB” files extension. If you have a file for example “Work”, you can show the extension that it looks like “Work.shb”.
