Show special folder 3 in “My Computer”.

Your “My Computer” folder displays all the drives configured on your system, including removable drives. This tweak is useful when you regularly access a folder and want to avoid subsequent clicks to access the folder. The new view can easily show your own special folder in the “My Computer” and let you access it at a single click.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista
Your “My Computer” folder displays all the drives configured on your system, including removable drives. This tweak is useful when you regularly access a folder and want to avoid subsequent clicks to access the folder. The new view can easily show your own special folder in the “My Computer” and let you access it at a single click.

For this do the following:

1)Create a key '{E6AE03D1-706C-4AA2-8A89-9195C15B5FD2}' in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\"

2)Create a key '{E6AE03D1-706C-4AA2-8A89-9195C15B5FD2}' in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\"

2.1)Update the data value of 'Default' with the folder name that you want to display.


2.2)Create a string value name 'InfoTip' and set the value you want to show as going with the mouse of the entry.


3) Create a key “DefaultIcon” in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{E6AE03D1-706C-4AA2-8A89-9195C15B5FD2}]

3.1) Update the data value of 'Default' with “shell32.dll,4”.

4) Create a key “InProcServer32” in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{E6AE03D1-706C-4AA2-8A89-9195C15B5FD2}]

4.1) Update the data value of “Default” with 'SHDocVw.dll'.

4.2) Create a string 'ThreadingModel' and set the value with 'Apartment'.

5) Create a key “Instance” in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{E6AE03D1-706C-4AA2-8A89-9195C15B5FD2}]

5.1) Update the data value of “Default” with blank.

5.2) Create a string “CLSID” and set the value with '{0AfACED1-E828-11D1-9187-B532F1E9575D}'.

5.3) Create a key “InitPropertyBag” in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{E6AE03D1-706C-4AA2-8A89-9195C15B5FD2}\Instance]

5.3.1) Update the data value of “Default” with blank.

5.3.2) Create a DWORD “Attributes” and set the value with '15 (In Hexadecimal Base)'.

5.3.3) Create an String “Target” and set the value with the path of the special folder.

6) Create a key 'ShellFolder' under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{E6AE03D1-706C-4AA2-8A89-9195C15B5FD2}].

6.1) Update the data value of “Default” with blank.

6.2) Create a DWORD "Attributes" and set the value with 'f8000110 (In Hexadecimal Base)

6.3) Create a string “WantsFORPARSING” and leave it blank.

After refreshing your system you can see the effects on your My Computer.

Add Special Folder.reg

The ".reg" file can add a special folder.

Delete Special Folder(Default).reg

The ".reg" file can delete a special folder.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

Special folder beside the common drives is being created.

No special folder beside the common drives is being created by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\] key, right-click and click on the "New > Key" to create a new key with the name "{E6AE03D1-706C-4AA2-8A89-9195C15B5FD2}".

Third, the created key will look like below.

Fourth, go to the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\] key, right-click and click on "New > Key" to create a new key with the name "{E6AE03D1-706C-4AA2-8A89-9195C15B5FD2}".

Fifth, right-click on the "Default" String value and click on "Modify".

Sixth, enter the folder name that you want in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Seventh, right-click on the blank area in the right pane and click on "New > String Value" to create a new String value with the name "InfoTip".

Eighth, right-click on the 'InfoTip' String value and click on "Modify".

Ninth, enter the message you want at mouse over in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Tenth, right-click on the '{E6AE03D1-706C-4AA2-8A89-9195C15B5FD2}' key and click on "New > Key" to create a new key with the name "DefaultIcon".

Eleventh, right-click on the "Default" String value and click on "Modify".

Twelfth, enter the value "shell32.dll,4" in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Thirteenth, right-click on the '{E6AE03D1-706C-4AA2-8A89-9195C15B5FD2}' key and click on "New > Key" to create a new key with the name "InProcServer32".

Fourteenth, the created key 'InProcServer32' will look like below.

Fifteenth, right-click on the "Default" String value and click on "Modify".

Sixteenth, enter the value "SHDocVw.dll" in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Seventeenth, right-click on the blank area in the right pane and click on "New > String Value" to create a new String value with the name "ThreadingModel".

Eighteenth, right-click on the 'ThreadingModel' String value and click on "Modify".

Ninteenth, enter the value "Apartment" in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Twentieth, right-click on the '{E6AE03D1-706C-4AA2-8A89-9195C15B5FD2}' key and click on "New > Key" to create a new key with the name "Instance".

Twenty-first, the created key 'Instance' will look like below.

Twenty-second, right-click on the "Default" String value and click on "Modify".

Twenty-third, enter the value blank in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Twenty-fourth, right-click on the blank area in the right pane and click on "New > String Value" to create a new String value with the name "CLSID".

Twenty-fifth, right-click on the 'CLSID' String value and click on "Modify".

Twenty-sixth, enter the value "{0AfACED1-E828-11D1-9187-B532F1E9575D}" in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Twenty-seventh, right-click on the 'Instance' key and click on "New > Key" to create a new key with the name "InitPropertyBag".

Twenty-eighth, the created key 'InitPropertyBag' will look like below.

Twenty-ninth, right-click on the "Default" String value and click on "Modify".

Thirtieth, enter the value blank in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Thirty-first, right-click on the blank area in the right pane and click on "New > DWORD Value" to create a new DWORD value with the name "Attributes".

Thirty-second, right-click on the 'Attributes' DWORD value and click on "Modify".

Thirty-third, enter the value "15" in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Thirty-fourth, right-click on the blank area in the right pane and click on "New > String Value" to create a new String value with the name "Target".

Thirty-fifth, right-click on the 'Target' String value and click on "Modify".

Thirty-sixth, enter the path of the desired folder in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Thirty-seventh, right-click on the '{E6AE03D1-706C-4AA2-8A89-9195C15B5FD2}' key and click on "New > Key" to create a new key with the name "ShellFolder".

Thirty-eighth, right-click on the "Default" String value and click on "Modify".

Thirty-ninth, enter the value blank in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Fourtieth, right-click on the blank area in the right pane and click on "New > DWORD Value" to create a new DWORD value with the name "Attributes".

Fourty-first, right-click on the 'Attributes' DWORD value and click on "Modify".

Fourty-second, enter the value "f8000110" in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Fourty-third, right-click on the blank area in the right pane and click on "New > String Value" to create a new String value with the name "WantsFORPARSING".

Fourty-fourth, right-click on the 'WantsFORPARSING' String value and click on "Modify".

Fourty-fifth, enter the value blank in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Clear the search arguments from Find dialog box.
