Hide the passwords icon from the control panel (for current user)

This tweak lets you hide the Passwords icon from the control panel.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me
The users should not be allowed to change the security settings, so their access must be restricted.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. Create a DWORD value name “NoSecCPL” in the right panel. Right-click it and modify the data value with “1” to hide the password icon and “0” to display it.

Click “OK” and close the registry editor.

Restart the system or logoff to see the changes taking effect.

Hide Passwords icon from control panel.reg

The '.reg' file will hide the passwords icon from the control panel.

Show Passwords icon from control panel (Default).reg

The '.reg' file will show the passwords icon from the control panel.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

'Password Dialoge' box is restricted in the 'Control Panel'.

'Password Dialoge' box is enabled in the 'Control Panel' by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\] and create a new key as "System".

Now create a new 'DWORD value' as "NoSecCPL".

Right Click on "NoSecCPL" and select 'Modify'.

Finally keep the value data as 1 and click 'OK'.

Hide the “Accessibility Options” system icon in Control Panel (For Windows 98/Me).
