Change the default sound setting for new mail notification.

This tweak lets you change the default sound file played on new mail notification.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista
When a new message is received, a beep sound is played, if enabled, but sometimes it is not played. We recommend to first check the option to play sound for new mail notification. The default sound file for new mail notification is given at the displayed registry path. To change the sound file, replace the complete path with the new sound (.wav) file destination.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. Now, right-click and modify the Expandable String value “Default”, in the right panel, with complete path to the new sound file. However, if you want to play the default sound, replace new path with earlier.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type 'regedit'.

Next, go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\.Default\MailBeep\.current\] and right click in the Expandable String Value and select 'Modify'.

Finally set a user defined '.wav' filename as the value data and click 'OK'.

Disable beep sound on Windows events.
