Restricting access to “Properties” of My Computer or “System” in Control Panel (For All Users).

This setting can hide the “Properties” of My Computer folder and restricts access to “System Properties” dialog box of System in Control Panel.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista
When you go to My Computer folder, press the right mouse button and choose “Properties” or when you go to Start > Setting > Control Panel and perform a double-click on System, the “System Properties” dialog box will appear. Likewise, selecting My Computer “Properties” in Windows Explorer or “Alt + Enter” key combination with My Computer selected, also calls the same dialog box.

If this setting is enabled, you can prevent the user having access to the “System Properties” dialog box, using any of the above channels.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If the subkey “Explorer” is not present, create it as explained below. Then, create a DWORD value “NoPropertiesMyComputer”, if this value does not exists.

Now, right-click and modify the value to “1” which can hide the properties dialog box. However, if you want to show the dialog box back, change the value to “0” or delete the value.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

NOTE:
The restrictions will apply on all user accounts created on your system.
