Add the customized window title to Windows Media Player.

This setting enables you to customize the window title of the Windows Media Player.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista
This setting enables you to customize the window title of the Windows Media Player. The text entered will get added to the earlier text plus “provided by”. This means Windows Media Player will be retained and it will be added by “provided by” plus the new text entered. The new look of the Title Bar will be “Windows Media Player provided by ”. If you clear this text, then the original text will replace it.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If the subkey “\WindowsMediaPlayer” does not exist, create it as explained below. Then, create a string value “TitleBar”, and write new tile that you want to show in the Title Bar.

However, if you want to replace it with original title, delete the subkey “\WindowsMediaPlayer”.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

New title name for 'Windows Media Player' is visible.

Default title for 'Windows Media Player'.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\], key and create a new key with the name "WindowsMediaPlayer" under "Microsoft".

Now, right-click in the open area to create a String Value with the name "TitleBar" in "WindowsMediaPlayer" key.

Next, right-click on "TitleBar" and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, enter the custom title in the text box and click on 'OK'. For example, if you type in "Microsoft" - the new title will be “Windows Media Player provided by Microsoft”

Disable automatic updates for Windows Media Player.

This setting disables automatic update for Windows Media Player 9.0 or higher version.

Disable automatic codec downloads for Windows Media Player.

Category : Software / Applications > Windows Media Player

This setting disables Windows Media Player to download the codec files from the Microsoft's website automatically, or else in usual course it seeks your permission before download.

Enable script commands of Windows Media Player.

This setting enables you to determine whether Windows Media Player is going to use embedded script commands.

Disable file and URL history saving in Window Media Player.

This setting disables the ability to add all the played URLs and files to most recent file list of Windows Media Player.

Clear recent file list of Windows Media Player.

Category : Software / Applications > Windows Media Player

This setting enables you to clear the recent file list in Windows Media Player so that nobody else can see the files list you have recently accessed.
