Clear recent file list of Windows Media Player.

This setting enables you to clear the recent file list in Windows Media Player so that nobody else can see the files list you have recently accessed.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista
Windows has the ability to save the file names which you have opened most recently and lets you see them, but if you do not want others to see the list, you can clear it.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. Now, right-click the on the String value “FileIDs” (where ID=0 to N) in the right panel and delete these values.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

Recent files list of 'Windows Media Player' is deleted.

Recent files list of 'Windows Media Player' is visible by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player\RecentFileList\], in the right panel select the "File(0 to N)" which stores the filename and path you have recently accessed. Right-click on the selected list to delete them.

Disable automatic updates for Windows Media Player.

This setting disables automatic update for Windows Media Player 9.0 or higher version.

Disable automatic codec downloads for Windows Media Player.

This setting disables Windows Media Player to download the codec files from the Microsoft's website automatically, or else in usual course it seeks your permission before download.

Disable file and URL history saving in Window Media Player.
