Hide the “Network” tab in Windows Media Player.

This setting can hide the “Network” tab from “Options” menu items of “Tools” menu in Windows Media Player.

This setting hides the “Network” tab from “Options” menu items of “Tools” menu in Windows Media Player. The default network settings are used unless the user has previously defined network settings for the Player. The “Network” tab can be used to configure proxy setting and streaming protocols.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If the subkey “WindowsMediaPlayer” is not present, create it as explained below. Then, create a DWORD value “HideNetworkTab”.

Now, right-click and modify the value to “1” which can hide the “Network” tab. However, if you want to show the tab back, change the value to “0” or delete the key “WindowsMediaPlayer”.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

'Network' tab is hidden from the 'Windows Media Player'.

'Network' tab is visible in the 'Windows Media Player'.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type 'regedit'.

Second, go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\] and create a new key 'WindowsMediaPlayer'.

Now, create a DWORD value 'HideNetworkTab' under the key 'Windows Media Player'.

Next, right click on the DWORD value 'HideNetworkTab' and select 'Modify'.

Finally set the value data as '1' and click 'OK' to hide 'Network' tab from 'Windows Media Player'.

Disable automatic updates for Windows Media Player.
