Add own folders to places bar inside Open\Save dialog

This tweak lets you add own folders to Places Bar inside Open\Save dialog.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000
In any Windows application, Open dialog permits you to go to My Recent Documents, Desktop, My Documents and My computer in Places Bar. You can add your own folders to this bar for quick access. But this setting also lets you remove the new features of Windows 2000 professional.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the first registry path listed below. If the subkey “\CurrentVersion\Policies\Comdlg32\Placesbar” is not present, create it as explained below. Then, create an expandable string value name “Place0”, if this value does not exist. Now, right-click and modify the value data box with the exact path to enable the setting.

Paths with Environment Variables are also valid, for example %USERPROFILE%\Desktop, which will default to your Desktop directory.

If you want to add more than one folder then create new Expandable entries with “Place1”, “Place2”, “Place3” and “Place4” and add the exact path.

Click “OK” and close the registry editor.

After logoff or system restart, changes take effect.

NOTE: If you apply this tweak, you will lose the default shortcuts inside the places bar (e.g. Desktop). To restore this default look, delete all entries.
