Hide recent used files inside dialog

This tweak lets you hide recent used files drop-down field inside dialog.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000
In any Windows application, Open dialog permits you to go to My Recent Documents, Desktop, My Documents and My computer in Places Bar. The recent used files button lets you go through the list of recent file used-names. But this setting also lets you remove the new features of Windows 2000 professional.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the first registry path listed below. If the subkey “\CurrentVersion\Policies\Comdlg32\” is not present, create it as explained below. Then, create a DWORD value name “NoFileMRU”, if this value does not exist. Now, right-click and modify the value data box with “1” to enable the setting and “0” to display it.

Click “OK” and close the registry editor.

After logoff or system restart, changes take effect.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

Recent used files inside dialog is hidden.

Recent used files inside is enabled by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersio n\Policies\], key and create a new key with the name "Comdlg32" under "Policies".

Now, right-click in the open area to create a DWORD Value with the name "NoFileMRU" in "Comdlg32" key.

Next, right-click on "NoFileMRU" and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, enter the value "1" (Base Hexadecimal) without quotation in the text box and click on 'OK'.Once you are done. Exit from registry. After a restart or logoff, the changes take effect.
