Allow or disallow the command prompt and/or batch files (.BAT, .CMD).

This setting can be used to allow or disallow the command prompt and/or batch files (*.BAT, *.CMD).

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista
By default Windows allow Command Prompt and batch files.

By using this tweak you can either disallow Command Prompt but allow batch files, disallow Command Prompt and batch files or allow both.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter "regedit" and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a DWORD value "DisableCMD", if this value does not exist.

Now, right-click and modify the value to "2" for disallow Command Prompt but allow batch files, or "1" for disallow Command Prompt and disallow batch files. However, if you want to get back to the original state, change the value to "0".

Restart your system for the change to take effect.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

‘Command Prompt’ functioning is disabled by administrator.

‘Command Prompt’ functioning is enabled by default.

‘Batch File’ functioning is disabled by administrator.

‘Batch Files’ functioning is enabled by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\], key and create a new key with the name "Windows" under "Microsoft".

Then, create a "System" key under "Windows".

Now, right-click in the open area to create a DWORD Value with the name "DisableCMD" in "System" key.

Next, right-click on "DisableCMD" and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, enter the value User "2" without quotation in the text box and click on 'OK'. Once you are done. Exit from registry. After a restart or logoff, the changes take effect.

Hide “Device Manager” snap-in from Computer Management console file.
