Alter default password of Windows auto login

This setting enables you to alter the user password for the auto login process.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista
This setting enables you to alter the user password for the auto login process.

The auto login process with user name, user password and domain can avoid the secure key combination “CTRL+ALT+DEL”.


If your computer is connected to a network, you can specify the domain, but if your computer is not connected to a network, you can leave this value blank.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a string value “DefaultPassword”, if this value does not exist.

Now, right-click and modify the value to match it with the password of the default user.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] key, right-click on the "DefaultPassword" String value and click on "Modify".

Finally, enter the password you want in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Enable users to automatically logon to Windows (For 98/ME).
